Enicar big eye Valjoux 232 - help for authenticity

Hi everyone,

I have a seller who offered me to buy this Enicar. I am not sure about the authenticity, especially for the movement. I know that the crown and the back are not original (the Crown is but not for this model) but I have never seen a movement of the Enicar chronograph in plain metal but rather gold. The movement is not AR signed but I’ve seen some original models in the past with no sign. I am afraid that this is a Frankenstein watch. Please advise.

I saw this one as well and had the same hesitation as you about the movement, but I’m no expert on that. The top pusher doesn’t look right either and the chrono seconds hand is not original. No disrespect to all good and honest sellers, but I’d also be careful about buying from some Asian countries where frankenwatches are common (this one seems to be in Vietnam).

Besides the color, the movement does look the same as other Big Eyes/Peles for sale online. I’m not a photography expert but wonder if they used their camera’s flash whitewashing out the gold color. It might be beneficial to ask them to provide you with new pictures using natural light.

The whole bridge may actually look a little too new, or at least out of tune with the rest of the movement.

The dial is painted by my house painter as well, no one sees that? Or am I crazy?

At least on your photo I can't see any irregularity.
