Ultradive authentication

Hi there. My brother is keen to buy an Ultradive like mine and has found one from a seller in Malaysia.

Looking the these images, does this look genuine or not?

The bezel looks different to mine with a different font on the numerals, but I’m no expert as it could be an earlier/later model.

I’d appreciate any comments

It looks like the watch is a redial. The 'Sherpa' font don't doesn't look like how it appears normally and it looks like there was some previous water damage to the dial and the lume is missing. You'll also notice the crowns aren't original as they don't have the cross hatching that are typical of EPSA crowns.

The bezel looks fake to me as well unfortunately. A bit of a mess that one.

Watches from South-East Asia live a hard life: heat, humidity and sun. It is very common for dials and bezels to have been refinished. If it looks good, it's probably bad...

I think we discussed the UD here before. Its not even a UD Case, but a heaily modified Sherpa Guide Case imo. I mean the condition alone would let me step back from these watches tbh. Sometimes they look like good donor watches, but even the movements are often totally worn. My watchmaker everytime hates me when I brang him a watch like this

Neither looked right to me on first inspection so I went on my gut feeling and told my brother to let these go. Your clarification has really helped.

I just found out he wanted around £700 a piece which seems way under valued. That also was a warning sign.
