The Super Jet Dilemma

Dear community,

A point of discussion between Christmas and New Year😃.

I am lucky to have two Super Jets in my collection. Both just came out of service and are running nicely.
It is a MKI with black dial in very good condition and a MKII with silver dial in good condition. As you can see the issue on the MKII is the bezel.

' I love the MKI but also the silver dialo_O'

I would love to hear your opinion on:
- What is the impact on the value of the watch if I exchange the dial? Would it make it a franken (there are silver dilaed MKI's)
- What about the bezel of the MKII? Finding an original is very hard! Leave it as it is? Or reprinting the bezel?

Your comments are highly appreciated!
Cheers

If you are concerned about the resale value of the watch and that concern rises above other concerns that you may have, then I would not change a dial.

Changing hands and changing crowns are a lesser concern and may even add to the value when the hands were damaged or when the crown or crowns were incorrect, but the dial is literally the face of the watch.

There are some collectors who will go through great pains to discover whether a watch is fully original, even searching through forums to discover a discussion about making changes to a watch and then passing on it when it is found that the watch is no longer original.

On the other hand, if you intend to keep the watch and enjoy it and you don't mind a hit to its present value, then go ahead and do what pleases you.

Just one man's opinion. ;)

First I would have a good long look for a replacement inner bezel. I’m sure they are hard to find but they may not be impossible to find.

You could also buy a beat up version with a good bezel and exchange. The beat up version could then probably be sold on at the same price.
