As shown in the "WRUW Today" post I just got a gem in my collection. An Enicar Super Graph from the Tokyo Olympic Games 1964. Since a lot of people asked me what the purpose of the red segments on the bezel of this Super Graph is, I investigated a bit further and wrote a new blog post about it on enicar101.

Besides its one of the Olympic watches, its also the exact watch that was shown in the Enicar Ads and their company magazine. The watch was owned and used by Swiss Shooter Hans Simonet, the guy on the following pic. Therefore I would also like to name the watch "Simonet".

Have a look and let me know what you think.

Now that is a cool specialization of a watch! I am fan of this type of special purpose watches like the EZM range by Sinn and early regatta watches! Very cool indeed!

Wow, such an interesting story . I hope in 2021 to look at the Tokyo Olympics again and sure this time the rifle shooting will have my full attention (especially the wrist, which watch?)

Such a great find Nico. I did like the little anecdote about the one lost in the woods from the top of a car!

Hello Jim,

What a beautiful Enicar, having been treated to viewing many of the members wonderful time pieces since joining the forum, your new one is certainly distinctive and then to be permitted to own the actual watch used in the promotional shots and know that it was a useful time piece to the photographer (Even better).

If you are interested in some quite wonderful reading, you could do worse than check out the following from my favourite Author

“The Nature of Things: The Secret Life of Inanimate Objects”

Not your usual hotch potch of crack pot ideas, particularly as aged 25 he was appointed the Director of London Zoo along side Johnny Morris.

Lyall Watson was a South African botanist, zoologist, biologist, anthropologist, ethologist, and author of many books, among the most popular of which is the best seller Supernature.
Enjoy your Enicar
