thanks for the heads up. very much appreciate it. i think the market for a top mk3 is 9-9.5 k, this is based on the one that sold on c24 from steve song, that was tight and correct. I like the mk3, its in my opinion the best looking, and I would like to get one, that is all correct, at the right price.

Another potential tidbit . . .

The ESG Mark III over at Oliver & Clarke appears also to have a later Mark IV Serial Number as well. I haven't contacted the seller nor do I intend to do so to verify, but, if I were interested in purchasing, I would contact them to clarify.

I make the serial number out to be 1262836, though I am only reasonably sure of 1262 and that the S/N has 7 numbers.

I think its 1.262.536 and the watch I allready have in my list. It was sold by @watchkelewicz some time ago (Have a look at the marked details).

In the 1.262.xxx batch I currently have 30 watches. With the above example, I found one other example with paddle hands. On the first view it seems to be the same set up, but when you look closely, you see that it has the second hand of a Jet Graph (full painted lollipop) and the sub hands are thin, but painted.

So in my eyes, this is still an anomaly and my best guess is, those watches were build together of leftover parts in the 90s. This was not uncommon, since many parts found its way to watchmakers and even small businesses. I can remember seeing an ad from the 90s, where Enicar watches were offered from these lots.

Well . . .

I did my best to try and discern the S/N and I only missed by one numeral! :)

I'd be surprised to learn that Oliver & Clarke receives anything close to $9,000.00 for a Mark III with a Mark IV case back.

The second one above is the one that was mine for about a month and eventually sold at Bonham's for more than I remember seeing at £5,500

S/N 1262347

At one time, that watch was salvaged by Steven Hale - SHWR LTD. and it was offered up by A Collected Man from whom I purchased it.

When I expressed my dissatisfaction to ACM, they took the watch back, paid for the shipping both ways and made me whole for the unfavorable drop in exchange rate. It cost me not one penny to 'rent the watch' for about a month. My experience of them is that they are very honorable.

I have pointed out in the past that so far, all of the early Mark IVs that I have seen that have the lollipop chrono seconds also have the solid red circle without the metal surround.

Nico, have you 30 legitimate Mark IVs in your registry now?

Regards,

Joe

No I have 51, but 30 of them are in the serial range we talked about.

btw 51 is pretty low, considering there could be 2.700 build.

Seems so . . .

21 of the earlier 1.030 range and 30 of the 1.261 to 1.263 range, I assume.
