New to me: fake bezel?

I've looked closely at my Guide bezels and I'm 88.5% sure this one is a repop/fake. Beggars the question, why? Why not make a "good" repop and we'd all be delighted to pay through the nose for them! The older I get the weirder the world seems...

It's the cut off (MID)WAY with a (possibly) painted on red pointer. You should be able to at least see part of the "D" from Midway.

this one is so strange. and if it is a repro, it is probably an old one due to the wear. On this watch almost everyhting is wrong,..but the paintet on pointer is really special
