Mix And Match Enicar Guide Or Rare Japanese Model?

So I came across this Guide that appears to be a mkII but has a moon gmt hand. This seemed initially to be a mix and match piece but then I remembered something that I've seen before.

In the cover of the Japanese catalog, it has a pictire of a Guide that is definitely a mkII but with the moon hand. It also has the rivet bracelet. This seems like a rare, Japanese only transitional model, but I'm not 100% sure. Check it out! What do you guys think?

Read the Enicar book Time for a chance from Martijn vd Ven, there you will find the answer.

Confusing things, the inside of the Japanese catalogue has this picture with straight gmt hand. Other than that it's the same as the watch on the cover.

It is rather close to the catalog photo.

- later bezel (matches catalog photo but is a replacement as there is no wear but the crystal shows scuffs)
- odd red pointer shape (not quite triangle or house)
- "crescent moon" looks off to me (too "fat")

I'm not sure I agree about the bezel. This watch looks damn near nos if you look at the bracelet and caseback. I think it's possible that the bezel is original. We all know how easy those crystals scratch.

Your right about the crescent hand. It's very fat which is odd. I tend to think this is a watch that hasn't been messed with but you never know!

Forgot to add, this piece is being sold in Japan. So that would make sense considering it's on the Japanese catalogue cover. I'm leaning towards thinking this is an all original watch.

According the Springbar guide to the Sherpa Guide, it seems to be original, Mark I version:

https://thespringbar.com/blogs/guides/enicar-sherpa-pilot-2-crown-models/

There's also this beauty currently listed on Chrono24 as well:

I love the condition and the silver dial on this model and much prefer it to a black dial but the asking price is a bit high methinks?

Although I have always loved the Sherpa Guide design I have shied away from them since I worry that the 43mm sizing might be a tad big for my 19 cm (6.25 inch) sized wrists and decided to get a Super Jet instead (which fits perfectly).

Definitely not a mk1. It's a mkII but perhaps very early so it retained the crescent hand. It's a bit of a mystery but possibly a rare variant that wasn't produced for very long.

They do wear very big. I think the lug to lug length is like 53mm. But I love that about them!

The Sherpa Super Jet's 49mm lugs reach the edges of my wrist's circumference so I think 53mm would extend over the edges of my wrist. :(

"Dealers were asked wich models they thought would be succesful for their markets " If they wanted details changed, like dial types or coulours, CHOICE OF HANDS, or whatever, we made the adjustments." A customer friendly.........
