I have come across several late 50s/early 60s watches that have "Rubyrotor" on the dial, and some with a "30" as well , but they have 25 jewel movements. Is this legit? Has any one else come across this?
Hmm, I don't think this one had an external bezel as there is no slot for the bezel retaining wire. There were "some" without bezels. Speculation being they were sold as "sport" watches as opposed to tool watches.
Hmm...that would be interesting to investigate. I bought a similar one, 2 years ago. It now has a bezel and works like all my other Dives. Can you do a pic without the steel bezel thats fitted now? HAve you seen any documents showing this variation?
Tbh I dont trust everything on The Springbar They accumulated a lot of information, but mostly based on pics they find somewhere. There is a lot of wrong stuff to find there
I stil have my "steel-bezel" I will fit it on one of my part Dives and post a pic. The size is different to yours. From my experience, I know these parts are easy to build for every watchmaker with a lathe. Luckily some rebuild the steel bezels, when missing on the Sherpa Graphs ( they tend to crack).
Thanks. Like you, I’m not convinced it left the factory this way but, for now I’ll probably leave it as is as I would have to find a the steel ring to suit the bezel, and, worse, the bezel itself.
