Enicar Star Jewels -- all good?

Hello! First of all, would like to thank that this forum exists! I'm new to this forum and what great place to learn more of my new favorite vintage brand :)

Onto the watch:

I'm planning to purchase this Enicar Star Jewels from an online vintage watch seller. While I haven't messaged the seller yet about the specifics, I would like to ask this community first about the watch as it is. I'm not yet familiar with details to look for, specifically Enicars, but I've researched quite a bit and saw some models with similar C-shape case (though not exactly with the same dial; maybe this dial fitted onto this particular case perhaps?) and same text hierarchy near the 6 ("STAR JEWELS" above "automatic".)

Hoping to learn more about this particular model and really appreciate any inputs before I make the purchase.

Thank you very much to you all!

Welcome!

Enicar made a lot "Star Jewels" watches. They are well-made, hand-wound or automatic watches. Collectable but not especially valuable. The big numbers are reserved for the tool watches from the 50s, 60s and early 70s.

If you like the watch then buy it for its own sake and enjoy it. It won't increase much in value but it also won't go down.

Thank you very much for that insight! What really drew me in to Enicar was the Saturn logo :) Out of all the vintage brands, this brand is what I would like to delve more into.

As for "Star Jewels", do these automatic models have a similar movement inside? Any tips on what to look (out) for? :)

I like the logo as well though my favourite is the Enicar in Saturn logo from the 50s and early 60s.

Has the watch been serviced? Is it keeping good time? The movements are robust but some parts can be hard to find.

Hi, kvxbn,

For every starting collector of Enicar watches, to get information of the branche, I advice to buy the book of Martijn vd Ven, Time for a change, Enicar org.

Hello all! Apologies for the very late response. With much research and back-and-forth with the seller, I found out that the particular watch runs well, but the hands are not its original set, the ones with a subtle pointed tip. (See attached image and this link as well) So I might have to pass on this purchase and be on the lookout for other Enicars that may pop up in the future. Appreciate all your responses, thank you so much!
