Yep! That's the serial. Cool to know it's the latest! What year would that put production at approximately?
I opened it up and it looks nice inside. All the rubber suspension pieces are in place which is cool.
My Ops landed today! Look at the stunning condition! It seriously almost looks new 👍 The dial is perfect. Just some dust in there and some marks on the crystal. I seriously doubt this was worn for more than a year in its lifetime.
Yeah that's a very small number. I have a Heuer Viceroy and I believe collectors have said they made about 5000 of those too. But in my experience it seems like they're much, much more abundant than the Ops or Ultradive. I wonder if that's because a large number of Ops and Ultra Dives just...
Awesome video! I have an ops being delivered Tuesday. It looks like it was probably only worn for a few months and then put away.
Do we know roughly how many Ops were made throughout the years? I would imagine it was somewhat limited in nature and the fact that they look quite bad when beat up...
Does anyone know, roughly, how many Sherpa Ops examples were produced? I'm thinking that Time For A Change might mention this but sadly I don't have a copy.
Definitely not a mk1. It's a mkII but perhaps very early so it retained the crescent hand. It's a bit of a mystery but possibly a rare variant that wasn't produced for very long.
They do wear very big. I think the lug to lug length is like 53mm. But I love that about them!
Forgot to add, this piece is being sold in Japan. So that would make sense considering it's on the Japanese catalogue cover. I'm leaning towards thinking this is an all original watch.
I'm not sure I agree about the bezel. This watch looks damn near nos if you look at the bracelet and caseback. I think it's possible that the bezel is original. We all know how easy those crystals scratch.
Your right about the crescent hand. It's very fat which is odd. I tend to think this is a...
Confusing things, the inside of the Japanese catalogue has this picture with straight gmt hand. Other than that it's the same as the watch on the cover.
So I came across this Guide that appears to be a mkII but has a moon gmt hand. This seemed initially to be a mix and match piece but then I remembered something that I've seen before.
In the cover of the Japanese catalog, it has a pictire of a Guide that is definitely a mkII but with the moon...
After a lot of back and forth, I've decided to sell my gorgeous Guide from 1964. It's the 33 jewel variant that I believe was sold in the Japanese market. I bought it directly from Japan and I've seen others exactly like it sold there.
It's in excellent condition and completely unpolished. The...
