What is price on cost?

Well, something we agree to disagree. For me your article sounds like collecting equals investing. Something I honestly don’t like. Of course I like the idea that I can sell my watch for the same amount I bought it, but profit is not my intention. A lot of other collectors think the same, so a high amount of watches change from hand to hand behind public doors. That dries the ability to buy watches or to have an entry to the watches. I am also more a friend of a realistic price, than asking a C24 fantasy one. Also better for your credibility among others ;)

Collecting is both a pleasurable experience but at the same time wether you agree or disagree it’s an investment.

We are in strange times for a while now where banks provide us with nothing so it’s very handy and fortunate to have a hobby that can provide us with a little security should we fall under hard times.

Personally speaking the collecting comes first and the investment is second.
I still don’t understand why you personally get hung up on the topic and also find it hard to believe that you preach what you say.

I mean if you are offered something for a low price like a barn find for example do you pay the owner more or keep quiet?

I also find it hard to believe that you would sell something you personally own for the price you paid as quite simply why would you if the market is telling you the opposite, but by all means feel free to hit me up when you’re ready my card is waiting :)

Regarding C24 I couldn’t agree more with you on that one but again it’s not my right to state what someone should ask. It doesn’t mean I agree with it but it’s not my job to preach it’s wrong hence going to back to my big company references.

Yes credibility is key and valuable as it rolls out like any customer service transaction, mine has been great for a while now & I enjoy helping people out when I can.
The only drawback is constantly hearing about a couple of German guys whinging about me behind closed chat doors ;)

That’s what I meant with behind the market. I often gave watches away for the so called under the market price to other collectors, who I know, and where I know the watch is not going to eBay a week later. Call me naive, but until know that worked very well for me in both ways.

And yes, prices are disputable. If someone is asking me, I give him my honest opionion, based on a realistic market price.

Yes, of course, you would not rip off an unsuspecting private seller. It's the old "stealing from widows or widowers" thing. Basic ethics 101.

However, I don't mind prices going up. Well, I'd rather they didn't but, you know what I mean. Limited supply, increasing demand means prices go up. That gives people with the means more access but more money also results in more parts and services appearing. Not exactly a win/win but it does benefit the community at large.

Jim is fine in my books, too. He's trading within a small group, each helping each other. Some watches or parts are bought knowing that they will soon make their way to another home, and that others will be looking out for your want list as well. All great in my books.

I hear you,
It’s one of those catch 22 situations that I would say is out of our control anyway,

It is nice to see the value of items you own increasing but at the same time you have to accept that with that then it will cost you more when you would like to purchase something new.
As you said correctly it falls under supply and demand.

Whether we like it or not as Nico said we are all kind of to blame on potential price increases, we advertise, we write, some of even bring out a book 🙌🏻😂

Things like this have been noticed and the popularity is growing, with growth comes demand and with limited numbers out there it’s going to increase price regardless if this is a positive or negative
