Have been looking at Sherpa Guide models and the attached has been offered to me- standard EBay seller offer. Was just wondering whether anyone had any concerns over authenticity. From my minimal but ever-growing Enicar experience it seems to match back to the Mk1 version and, bracelet aside, looks to have its original parts. Bezel looks in exceptional condition for its age though?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The world cities bezel is a replacement. Not a deal breaker in my opinion. Back is on incorrectly. Looks nice otherwise.

Thanks Jb. In terms of the world cities bezel being replaced- do you mean it’s been replaced for a newer Mk1 bezel version or is the bezel not attributable to the model? Cheers Macky

In as far as I know, all Guides, right to the end of production, came with the "... Gambier Denver" bezel. When serviced, they were often changed to the updated (more cities) "Anchorage-Ho.Lu Denver" version.

If that is correct, why do adverts and catalogs etc. show Guides with "Anchorage - Ho.Lu. Denver" bezels?

I'm probably not correct but I have seen pillow-case Guides, NOS, with the "early" bezel.

Certainly the Mk1 in question had the simpler bezel.

In the Brochures & Manuals section of Enicar101.com there's a 1960's Guide manual showing an Anchorage bezel.
And a 1970's one showing a cushion case Guide with the Gambier bezel.

Interesting and confusing subject.

I've never seen an original, parts in matching condition, Mk1 Guide with the Anchorage bezel. I've seen quite a few with obviously newer bezels having the Anchorage bezel. Love to see one if they are out there.

It seems to be, I’ve seen so many versions with the two different bezels. As they’re both Enicar designs, if you’re happy with the watch it shouldn’t really matter. Above all, you’re buying an excellent historical timepiece.
