My Fathers Watch 2025

Hello my fellow Enicar enthusiasts,

I last posted some 4 years ago in 2021, with the title “The final chapter of My Fathers Watch”

The story and the journey had to continue due to unforeseen issues, quite unknown at the time.

It became quite clear that some mechanical issues were still present within the Sherpa Dive 33 and after taking time to research Watch makers, I happened across a gentleman call Mat from Vintage Enicar (currently located in Den Haag).

After some months of communications, I once more took the plunge and had a day out to Den Haag from Harrogate, North Yorkshire (1000.5 miles, door to door). To deliver my Fathers watch to Mat and discuss what remedial works were required. The upshot of this was a simply wonderful restoration with NOS parts and the return to both rude health and outstanding aesthetics, whilst still keeping the soul of my Fathers watch intact.

So I am unashamedly giving a shout out to Mat of Vintage Enicar for a wonderful restoration, beautifully carried out. Mat dropped by today on his trip to the UK this week and returned my Fathers watch to me, worth every effort and besides regular servicing, I think its time to genuinely bring this journey to a conclusion with one last caveat.

Look before you leap, do your due diligence and find a Watch maker who values what you value, enjoys their work and has integrity.
