Is this Ocean Pearl genuine?

Hi all,

I just received this 1970s Ocean Pearl and I fear it's a fake. Specifically, the "Swiss Made" inscriptions is below rather than above the indices, and on the case back, the informational inscriptions seem to be in different locations from other examples.IMG_20250730_130221.jpg

It's my second Enicar (my first was a Sherpa Star), so I thought I knew what I was doing but maybe not. Any help is really appreciated!

Thanks

Hey Doc, great pickup and thanks for sharing! From your description, there are definitely a few red flags—especially the “Swiss Made” positioning and the inconsistent case back engravings. Enicar was pretty methodical with those details during the '70s, so variations usually warrant a closer look. That said, some legit models did have subtle inconsistencies depending on the production run. It might be worth comparing movement and inner case markings if you can pop it open. Either way, you’re not alone—vintage Enicar can be tricky. Let’s figure it out together!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I appreciate it. Since posting I've shown the watch to my watch-maker, who examined the face and thinks it genuine. He was quite impressed with it, which made me feel better. I still have misgivings about the case back though. I'll try and get the back off next week and post some photos of the movement, so we can continue the research.

And yes, I also think the red lollipop kind of makes the watch. It's a nice crisp piece.

Cheers
