I own this watch. It has never been worn to my knowledge and is in very good condition. It runs fast however and I'm wondering where would be a reputable place to get it repaired.
Also, I've not been able to locate an identical watch searching the Internet, so I'm wondering if it is fairly rare. It is 18K gold, both the case and band.
Thanks, Mark1000002571.jpg

The watch was purchased in Italy sometime in the 1960's if that's helpful at all. Thanks.

18K gold Enicars, solid not plated, are rare in and of themselves. They tend to be regular or dress watches so their value is in the gold content. They are good, well made watches.

Thanks so much for the reply. So the dilemma is it has sentimental value but I don't wear watches nor do my 2 children (and they're women). So the choices are to sell it to someone who would appreciate it and wear it or sell it for the gold value. If I want to get it serviced so that it doesn't run fast, do you have recommendation for a shop? I'm assuming they could appraise it as well.

That's a nice looking watch, MarkMax. How did you come to own a watch that has never been worn, including by yourself? It sounds like an interesting story...would love to hear more!

Cheers,
Jim

Jim, my Grandfather purchased it in Italy when he returned to visit his hometown sometime in the early 1960's. Someone in his family owned a jewelry store. He bought back several items. My Dad inherited it and it was in new condition when he got it. My Mom told me he never wore it because it didn't fit his wrist and was afraid to wear it anyway. I've inherited it from my Dad. It has some light scratches on the back of the case but I think that just from it existing for 60 years and being handled on occasion. I know for sure my Dad never wore it and I never have in the years I've owned it. My grandfather was a welder by trade and I never saw him wear any jewelry. If it was a ever worn, it was very few times. U fortunately I do not have the original box.

I inherited some watches from my Dad and my uncle. A couple would be considered worth almost nothing, and a couple quite valuable, but to me the sentimental value is what makes them special. We're all different, of course, and some things are just things. I hate to see vintage watches being sold for scrap metal, so if you decide to sell it, please post it here on the forum so one of us can save and enjoy it!
Cheers,
Jim

The watch is special to me but the sentimental value will pass when I do. Doesn't make any sense to keep it in a drawer IMO. I've gotten an estimate of $400 to service it to make it run like new and I might consider having that done. If I sell it I'll certainly offer it here, but from what I've observed (I could be wrong) the fact that its 18K gold would make it a very expensive example of an Enicar brand watch. I'm not sure there is even a market for it. Maybe sell just the watch without the band and sell the band for it's gold value.
