Nice. I can add a bezel, dial and the crystal...so we just need two crowns, hands and a movement to complete :D

Btw the auction ended at 2.522C$. My guts tell me shill bidding again.

True, but it's a start.

I hope it's a real sale as I think the next severe "incredulity-attack" may well finish me off.

$1700+US for a Birks (Canadian jeweller) version of a Ultra-Dive/OPS in extremely poor condition. Heck, there is a chunk out of the case! Looks like the case was black but that's just as a guess as it takes tough to a whole new level. Movement looks good/servicable. Dial is fair at best and not as interesting aesthetically. No date wheel or seconds hand. I was watching as Birks watches are an interest of mine and I'm looking for Enicar-sourced, Birks watches (hard to find). I, however, quickly lost interest as the price climbed.

Hi there!
I'm brand new here. And I am the winner of the auction.
I'm nuts over these old OPS, and had put in an offer on one, only to find someone beat me to it. The disappointment of missing that one led to more searching.
This one popped up and by chance, is very close to me.
The Birks dial sold me on it.
I did a little digging and found a second hand, and decided I would make my max bid the same as the offer I put in on the OPS...
It gets better: this is my second Enicar. I just resumed watch collecting this last year. I was visiting my father the other day, and I saw my old Sherpa Star in a drawer of his. I had given it to him years and years ago, he gave it back to me, and I began looking into divers.
I just had to jump on this, it's completely irrational, because as noted here, it's a bit of a dog, to say the least.
I'm going to take my time and do my research, and have a light restoration performed on it.
My name is Harvey, I'll likely be poking around here, asking newbie questions, etc.
Cheers

Hello Harvey,
welcome to the Enicar nuts and congratulations on the Birks OPS. I think you have a lot of work to do!

No, it is the same thread. You can use the same crown.
I am at the right place!
My intention is to restore this watch (respectfully, and caringly) to its former glory. It's a keeper, for sentimental reasons.
I'm going to asses it when I receive it and get to work finding the bits I need. In retrospect, it was a bit silly taking on such a project at an early stage of collecting, but at the very worst, it will be an expensive learning experience. Lol.
