Just seen the announcement of the long awaited Sherpa watch reissue.

As an Ultradive owner I’m thrilled to see this reissued. First pictures look like an authentic approach keeping to the original style.

my only question is the price. €5,900 for a Sellita SW200 powered automatic.

have they over priced this or do you think it’s fair?

For me, if it was €2,500 it would be a smash hit.

I admire Martin's courage.

It must have taken a significant investment to revive the EPSA-style case and when it comes right down to it, the price is going to be tied tightly to expected sales volume.

It's not something any of us has any right to know of course, but it matters whether Martin thinks he can sell 500 watches or 2500 watches when it comes to setting the price. No matter how much enthusiasm he has, he has to cover his costs and make some money to reinvest in order to move on to other revivals.

I suspect that the market for such watches is a very tough market beyond the enthusiasts.

I truly hope the effort is a smashing success.

Well, I understand pricing, profit and so forth, but at this level, you are competing directly with the Enicar vintage models themselves. I know which I would choose. They look very nice but I’m not a new watch purchaser very often.

I don’t think vintage Enicar enthusiasts are the market. If we had the coin, we’d buy another Enicar. But, there are people who want the look but not the hassle of owning a vintage watch. I have several myself. I use my 2017 Autavia as my every day watch. It takes a real beating but works great. There’s no way I would do that with any of my vintage Enicars.

loved the idea of recreating such an icon, and i get that low series manufacture has to be quite expensive, but for me - the price is attacking so many other "premium" brands levels - that i'd struggle to pay this money for a modern (trying to be diplomatic) "interpretation".

I think we're a big potential market, but for the reasons already stated (chiefly that at this price point it competes with the vintage models) it's tough. At $2,500 (maybe even $3,000), I'd be the first in line! But, at $5,500... I'd be looking to buy something else. I want this to be super successful! But, I can't throw my hat in for this much. I look forward to seeing how it does, and I really (TRULY) wish I could support the effort...I'm just priced out.

This is insanely cool but yeah, the price. This is Rolex pricing (retail) and I just have to say it. Outrageous. To me this will be sold to under 50 people total. I don't see much of a business here.
