For all you SG experts, do you think this one is correct? The white-painted subregister hands never look right to me but I have seen others like this. And I know of the debate on this very forum regarding the white-painted chrono seconds hand tip.

Enicar Sherpa Graph “Jim Clark” for $11,822 for sale from a Seller on Chrono24

How about the lume on the hands? I suspect it is re-lumed but hard to be sure.

The lack of a movement photo and no mention of serial number create possible concerns, too.

It is in nice condition, so if all-correct, looks like a worthy piece if one can secure a reasonable discount from the almost-$12k asking price. The going rate for a nice one seems closer to $10k but I have seen them go as high as $15k of late (European auction). This example looks comparable to the one that sold on C24 earlier this week (listed at $9,800).

I bit unusual to see two nice Mark III examples hit C24 within a week of each other. Maybe the previous quick sale motivated this seller.

Your analysis appears sound to me.

I do think the luminous material is original. I've seen a number with that coloration and mine is one of them. The photo is a bit out of focus.

Here's mine:

Bright light causes the luminous to appear whiter than it is - which is close to what you see in the C24 example.

Note also that the luminous has a couple of dark spots at the 3 and 6 markers on my watch. This "tell" will always make my watch identifiable no matter what I may do to it in future.

The C-24 watch seems to have a little lume-spotting on the 9. We'd have more detail if the image were sharper. Not an issue as far as I am concerned.

When I hit my watch with UV light, the lume fades in just a few seconds. Although I have swapped out the center minutes and hours hand with NOS hands at one time, lume is confirmed to be old tritium as the fade is the same as for the dial.

It would be good to see the movement.
It would be necessary to know the serial number, IMHO.

If I did not already own one, I'd be interested in this one. ;)

Regards,

Joe

Edit: I have seen Mark IIIs with white-tipped central (chrono) seconds hands as you mentioned has been discussed here. These hands show up for sale fairly often, but I've never seen a NOS central seconds hand available by itself with a white tip. I assume that the factory may have added the white tip to some watches during final assembly. ;)
