I just witness a live auction here in Sweden and the wonderful and well written about Sherpa Graph below went with just one bid for just over €22 000 and that should, according to very trustworthy sources, be a new world record for an Enicar watch at an auction!

Congrats to the new owner and hopefully this person is a regular visitor here! 🤗👍🏻

I can tell you this much . . .

I just ordered a US printed translated copy of this:

3931

I can't read Swedish though I may order a copy of the original just to have it. ;)

I remember that I once mentioned in here that I never particularly liked the greenish or turquoise color of the Gladius hands on the early Ia watches.

I do like the manner in which the hands had aged to tan on the watch that was sold in the last year or so by Bulang and Sons. I seriously considered buying that one, but it seemed like a lot of money at the time.

So now I am open to follow your lead Nico and perhaps have the modern luminous removed assuming we can both convince ourselves that the watch did not have luminous material applied in the first place

Of course, I want to honor the watch . . . and make sure whoever gets it next will enjoy it as well.

It's early days at this point.

I have to think on it a bit.

I’ve helped a fellow Enicaristi here in Sweden with the exact same procedure and that MK 1a looks so much better after this was done and of course we consulted Nico and others before doing this!
We actually found NOS and aged hands for this

Interesting . . .

There is time to consider a reversible approach.

Perhaps you can help me acquire a set of NOS hands without luminous material?

If so, I will be able to preserve the hands on the watch "as they are" currently.

Everything that happens to a watch becomes part of it's history; sometimes good and sometimes not so good.

I have seen a set on Ebay, but the hands appeared to have rust on the tips.

Exactly!
Don’t know if the seller has any left now but he was on eBay and situated in Switzerland…

Congrats Joe. Very pleased for you and welcome to the club 😁. I mentioned to Nico and a few of the guys yesterday that give it a couple of years and this will seem like a bargain!

Hopefully Quintus has some of those hands spare 👍. Nico has a few images showing the skeleton hands as being correct now, which wasn't known when this watch first popped up.

Thanks Steve,

I have to say that I am feeling a bit chuffed, delighted, pleased - choose your adjective - this morning. ;)

As we say in The States, I am going to milk this thread a bit. ;)

Is anyone curious as to how the hammer price got to 180 600 SEK?

Hakan and I have been chatting about the unusual bid price announcement in the room. Perhaps I will share a bit more information at some point . . . but not today ;)

What I do note today is that there is a beautiful royal blue Mark IV S.G. for sale on Chrono24 for $17,598. It is situated in the UK and is actually listed for £12,750.

I must say that I am a bit conflicted about the rise in pricing.
