Enicar Sherpa GMT

Gentlemen,

My Enicar GMT has unfortunately lost its serial number through wear. That being the case I am struggling to date the watch other than, I presume, it is pre 1965 because I have a service invoice dated then. It has the 1126 movement in it and the bezel was originally red and silver but again the bezel is worn.
So from the attached photograph can anyone date it for me, not forgetting that the dials did undergo many print changes over the years.

There are another couple of things that would be interesting to know: When was the red bezel in production (which years). Also, does anyone know someone who would be able to restore the bezel as per original?

Cheers,

Because of the divided Saturn, Rubyrotor at the dial, 30 jewels, AR 1126, like myself born in 1962. Very nice watch.
Interesting facts there, how do you know this? 🤗

My Sherpa GMT seems to be one of the first and by the serial number looks like its from 1960 but is that correct based on your knowledge?

De back lid is very scratched but unpolished as I believe and in the right angel one can read "298 711" as serial number.

Congrats to a beautiful watch! (y)
Nice patina on that watch too and I'm also keen on learning the history regarding the rather unusual red/silver bezel.

Lovely watch, I wish mine had a bezel in such good condition. If mine is from 1962 and I strongly believe it is because I have done some more reading and the Rubyrotor was introduced then. Your watch has an earlier rotor (without the ball bearings in it). So I guess 1960 is also probably correct. I would still like to know how long the red and silver bezel was in production. Better still who has one or can reproduce one! I suppose it would also be interesting to know who actually manufactured those bezels, surely not Enicar? Probably made by a local specialist?

I have bought both silver/black and silver/red GMT bezels in new/NOS condition so they are out there.

The rubyrotor was a failure. AFAIK most/all have been switched to ball bearing rotors by now.

In 1962 I was just born so I couldn't check personally in Lengnau. Its just an opinion and I've got my information of the Enicar books of Martijn vd Ven, first and second edition, Nico van Dijk and Ranfft database.
