Yesterday I try to capture kind of different Dive Generation as you can see here:

20190714-DSC05606_2.jpg

You will shortly notive, that the Dive in the middle has the alloy bezel, but no red ring like the one to its right. Many thought this ring is missing, others allready had an eagle eye and saw a small difference at the inner edge. I measured the bezels of these two watches and found out, yes, the bezel of the middle one without red ring is thicker by 0.4mm. So next time you see a Dive without red ring, maybe its correct ;)

I assume this was happening with the very first Dives. Mine is from 5/58 and has a lot in common with the bakelite style one.

Hope this info is helpful,

Nico

I'd be interested in more info on the jewel that is in some red rings. I have a Sherpa Diver 600 with a jewelled red ring. I used to think they all came jewelled but were quickly lost. However, if you look at the brochures posted here and elsewhere, clearly they were available with or without a jewel in the red ring.

is your diver 36 or 40mm size? And why do you think all cane with a red ring, when we clearly have proof in brochures? ;).

Not, "all with a red ring" but "all red rings with jewels in the index hole." Yes, indeed, after looking at the brochures I can see that I was mistaken. What I'm curious about was when Enicar included the jewel and when they didn't. Though, given there incredible number of variations, perhaps there was no rhyme nor reason.

My Diver 600 is 36mm.

Maybe it’s lost in translation, but can you mark what you mean with jewel. I really don’t understand what you mean :).

or do you mean the lume in the index markers at 12 o clock? Mine just lost the lume.

thanks, Nico

Please forgive the quality of the quick phone snap. The red ring has a red "jewel" in centre of the triangle index. Is this perhaps only a feature of the smaller, "woman's" watches?

:D This jewel is a nice customization, but never left the factory in Lengnau like this!

36mm wasn't a womans watch back then. All, Diver 600, Divette and Dive were men watches. For women introduced the Mini Dive.

That’s a lume dot, like on a rolex submariner. Not sure if this was factory made or a customization of the selling watchmaker. In catalogs and historical pics this spot is lume free.
