Crowns upon thars

So, do all compressor cases have cross-hatched crowns? Obviously not as OPS, later Guides, etc all came without crosshatching. I have three Sherpa/Sherpa Dates and only one has a crosshatched crown (strangely, the non-date). Online photos seem to show no crosshatching. The reason I'm asking is that my latest Sherpa date has a generic crown and I'm looking to get a proper replacement. I have a 6mm crosshatched crown as found on early Guides/Jets/etc. I'm thinking a 5.5m crown without crosshatching would be better...

You can look for examples of Sherpa Date crowns in old brochures. Like these two in a 1960 brochure:

You can find the entire brochure and some other brochures on the Enicar101.com website.

Interesting. Maybe I can salvage the crosshatched crown off my non-date for other watches as 5.5mm crosshatch crowns are very thin on the ground. Looks like date crown doesn't have quite as pronounced a round bulge. Thanks.

I think there is a turning point around 1959/1960. Before 1960 you see them withouth, after 1960 mostly with waffle pattern until 1969 (the next turning point). the OPS though I can't recall seeing without waffle crowns. Sometomes its hard to see it cause of the pvd paint that seems to be very thick:
