I know very little about the Aqua Graph. Most of what I have learned I've read on Nico's Enicar 101 site.

After posting about the differences between the early Valjoux 72 movements used in the pre-1963 Graphs versus the later V.72 movements equipped with mobile stud carriers, I happened upon this Ebay ad for a Mark I Aqua Graph:

So how do we determine that the subject watch is a Mark III AG?:

The movement is a later movement with mobile stud carrier
The case reference is 072-02-02
The serial number looks like it may be 986976
Inside case date is 6/67
Rotatable bezel ring is a later ring style

It seems clear that the watch is an Aqua Graph Mark III but with a complete set of Mark I hands including the thin subdial hands.

Thanks to Nico, even someone who knows nothing can learn something. ;-)

I assume the current owner has no idea that his watch is essentially a Mark III with Mark I hands.

Nice looking watch though.

Its the opposite Joe :D You are helping me find errors on my page ;) Indeed its not a MKI AG. But its a correct MK III. I just had a look into my reference table and 986.xxx AGs all had paddle hands. The introduction came with the 987.xxx watches. The MK III was one of the first articles I wrote somne years ago when my list just had a few watches and it seems it is time to update it to the new knowledge. Thanks for leading me in this direction. Hope to find time in the evening for it.

Nico

Edit: I was better than expected :D I allready had this sentence in the article:

"I have also seen MK III AG's with paddle hands and/ or thin sub hands. Seems there is some transition between both references. "

still correct, will just add the serial range of this.

Nico,

I just received my new glasses having had a new eye exam and prescription.

So you better watch out!

I'll be looking at things more sharply now. ;-)

Is the info on the Jet Graph page accurate?
