A White 1c Graph popped up today on Ebay and was gone in a few hours

I contacted the seller to confirm the serial number as 5277xx.

The movement looked very good but I found myself wishing for better high-res dial photos.

It sold for just under 6000 EUR in a couple hours.

Yep - I was watching that one and had contacted the seller too Joe. He would only accept payment via bank transfer, which I don't like and I don't have the funds yet anyway. Was hoping this would still be around at the middle of next week when I might have done.

It is going to Italy, final price was 5.500€. Bargain I would say considering the nice condition.

Insider information. ;)

I am on the lookout for a 1b or 1c or one of each if the timing is right. I really like the early logo.

Yesterday I was very busy and had not much time in front of the computer. I don't like to use my phone to analyze photos. The opening bid price shown was 5997 EUR. For all I knew, he may have expected twice that number. I actually asked two questions, one having to do with the S/N and the second was "Will you accept 6,000 EUR?" I did not make a formal offer though, wanting to see what response would come back and he appeared not to understand . . . because the answer I received to the second question was one word: "bild" Had he said anything like "Bitte machen Sie ein Angebot," I would have understood.

As I have a fine white 1d, and as he had hi-res close-ups of the movement, but not of the dial, I was sufficiently undecided as to why he would have hi-res of one, but not the other as to be "of two minds."

The final price was certainly a bargain if what we thought that we saw was what we would receive. Still, it is a lot of money to put into the hands of a stranger without recommendation or reputation..

But I suppose that is a place where many bargains will be found, laying side by side with risk.. :)

Not really, he told me it might be going to Italy, and eBay told me the final price ;) It's common with some German sellers, that the don't trust Paypal or Credit Cards. I think the seller is trustworthy, hence he is selling watches all the time too. Why he hasnt High Res pics is a good question that I asked him too (and havnt got an answer).

But yes, the discount is paid with a bit of risk everytime on the bay.

Happy Hunting!

Ah, OK.

This is what my Ebay page shows:

521

So it was not clear to me that it sold for EUR 5500 from the above only.

Here is a bit of a dilemma . . .

I doubt that we in here want to knowingly bid against one another - and when such knowledge comes about, we want to behave as gentlemen - so I generally only post about such things when I've decided not to make an offer or after the matter has been decided.

The gray and white was an exception as I thought I'd be going over the fellow's home and sitting face-to-face with him to further evaluate . . . as he is practically "down the road a piece" from me.

There is often an element of luck when it comes to these sorts of things. I would not have minded using a Transferwise funds transfer if I felt the guy was trustworthy.

It seems lately that more fine Graphs are coming up for sale, so perhaps Steve and I will have another shot soon! ;)

Same with me, but the Enicar world is so small, there is no doubt someone else is also bidding ;)

Btw there is a Bug or Feature in ebay. If you offer your price (like 1$ as alibi), you see the result of the winning offer by email. Like here for the shown watch:

And yes, I have also the feeling we see more watches lately.
