I own an Ocean Pearl that came with an aftermarket Enicar bracelet, and tbh it's not very good. I mean, it's OK but not really worth hunting for. Idk who makes them, but I guess you'd start looking on eBay. I'd go with a leather strap to keep the original bracelet in good condition.

Finding a steel bracelet that fits is a little tricky. But if you are happy with a leather strap, just ascertain the lug width of the watch, and order one from an online seller. Handdn, Colareb are good, and Atelier Ferrer seem good.
The numerals are art deco - 30s style - and the dial seems to be in the style of a 1950s racing chronometer. Presumably art deco numerals went out of style by the 50s, so 40s sounds right. Trust Vandervenus!
Although I'm a prissy patina princess, that's a sweet piece. Big size for its day too...
I'd say it's legit. Idk what movement it has, but opening the case should tell you or your watchmaker. Is it a good purchase? Well it depends on what you paid for it, and if it is running well. It seems to be in good cosmetic condition, and I think it is an attractive low key model. So I'd say...
Check if the crown is stamped with the sign of Saturn 🪐. It looks legit to me otherwise (no expert here, tho). As to date of production , Enicar used that logo between the early 50s and early 60s. After the latter date, they separated the Saturn from the brand name.
The dial seems to have been repainted. The lettering of the "Star Jewels" has wonky spacing, and 17 ought to be printed above it. The "Enicar" badge seems to have been touched up too. I guess someone has restored the dial 😢
I think you bought a goodie. To my novice eyes the watch itself looks genuine, but the buckle mightn't be as the strap is the first component to fail. It's not a big deal.
Enjoy your Enicar!
Aesthetically, I think it's a nice little piece, though the red date in the window is considered more desirable. Try Google lens on the face and case back to see how it compares with other specimens. I'd guess the buckle is aftermarket, but am not certain. If it is original, that makes the watch...
The case back doesn't sound good. Keep searching! And read the "Time For a Change" blog; it has helpful tips on what to look for when buying an Enicar.
Models of this type tend to be referred to as the "president", and it was released in the latter years of the original Enicar brand and they perhaps continued in production after the company was purchased by a HK firm. AFAIK they mostly had stainless steel bracelets, originally.

It looks pretty cool. Tbh there's nothing special about the hands; but I like the case shape and the numerals. It's a post-1975 model going by the double ring Saturn logo. If it's a good price go for it!
Thanks for the replies, guys. I appreciate it. Since posting I've shown the watch to my watch-maker, who examined the face and thinks it genuine. He was quite impressed with it, which made me feel better. I still have misgivings about the case back though. I'll try and get the back off next week...

Hi all,
I just received this 1970s Ocean Pearl and I fear it's a fake. Specifically, the "Swiss Made" inscriptions is below rather than above the indices, and on the case back, the informational inscriptions seem to be in different locations from other examples.
It's my second Enicar (my...
