Not long ago, I thought that all Mark Id watches had the small transitional logo (smaller than the Mark III) as well, but we learned from Nico of at least one exception . . . and that is for the Marl Id in gray & white, similar to the Mark Ic gray and white.
Here is the only one I have seen for...
Here is what I see . . .
On the negative side first:
The movement looks appropriate as to vintage, but the slotted or minus-head screws have been molested with the careless use of a screw driver and there are a couple of scratches on the bridge. Neither of these observations suggests anything...
This may not be a hard and fast or sure way to tell w/o opening the case, but so far as I have seen, the bayonet cases have a "I" and a "0" on the edge of the back meant to line up with a single stem or in the case of my Super Jet, one of the two stems. When the "I" lines up, the case is locked...
I "broke down" and decided to order one myself.
This in the description offended me:
"Your own planet in recycled plastic. What a dream for little space fans! This one can also shine in 7 different colors, so your child can choose a favorite or let the LED table lamp switch automatically."...
. . . a couple more shots which are intended to show how the light plays with the dial among other things!
The case back is polished a bit, but everything is there even if a bit faint . . .
I'm liking it so far . . .
. . . I may hang onto it for a while! ;)
Cheers,
Joe
Came in early . . .
The photo does not do justice to the sheen of the silvery center, but the watch at 40 mm wears very well.
The condition of the original beads of rice bracelet was a very pleasant surprise as well.
More photos to follow . . .
These things take a while . . .
Watch arrived in the states two weeks ago . . .
Furnished the watch worksheet to DHL last week while I was on Curacao.
This week I paid the small duty and expediting charges.
Watch should be in my hands for an unboxing the beginning of next week!
Cheers,
Joe
It seems to me that it would be hard to remove an engraving on the case back w/o removing the serial number unless the polishing-out were done in a limited area only with masking of some sort to protect everything else. The S/N is shallower than most or all of the standard engraving.
I would...
Beautiful albino IB S.G.
I'd love to see a photo of the case back just to see whether it's in as fine a shape as the rest of the watch.
It is stamped correctly on the inside so, I'd expect a near-perfect case back with an expected serial number.
If I were a buyer. I'd request a photo of the...
State of the art combination espresso and cappuccino machines are much more compact these days than that old antique.
What a clunker! :)
Greetings from Willemstad, Curacao
First I have to receive it! ;)
Your dibs have been registered.
The money went out last week and they've indicated they will add the loose links to the bracelet and service the watch. Fingers crossed that they don't make anything worse. I was tempted to to ask to have it shipped "as is," but...
Thanks for the "heads-up."
I am in the process of acquiring the watch as I have been on the look-out for a Super Jet for some time, not finding one in especially good condition generally until after someone else buys it. ;)
This one seems especially appealing and the price seems reasonable...
Hi Enijean . . .
The Breitling purchase of UG may be a differant kind of acquisition as Breiting paid a lot of money for the UG name - 70 million USD - and they intend to take their time developing entirely new watches up-scale from the Breitling line using newly developed in-house movements...
